A very nice study of the subtleties of shadows and light. This is a very clean and well executed piece Jolie
I see what you where saying about the issues with anatomical proportions. I don't think it's just the fact that the legs seem shorter then they actually are because they're folded and because of the compacted perspective you get when an object extends toward you in a 2D medium as his calf does. I also think that it's the perceived length of the torso which our mind tells us has to extend at least four inches past the point where our view is block by his leg since thats where the seat of the chair begins. Usually a person's calf, shin and torso are all roughly the same length and there arm from shoulder to elbow is about three quarters the length of there torso. So the extra perceived length of the torso makes it appear about twice the length of the arms from shoulder to elbow and about a quarters longer then the calf and shin which is about a quarter longer then it should be. The length of the arms and legs themselves seem correct in relation to each it just that the length of the torso doesn't seem to match them. I don't think this is necessarily an error in the way you drew the proportions it may in fact be an error in the way our brains are interpreting those proportions.
BTW I know you learned anatomy in school and have a better understanding of it then I do so I would never question you're knowledge of it or pretend to be able to teach you anything about it.
BTW2 I do really like this picture but then again I'm a sucker for well done portrays of light
this isn't the piece in question ---> /see There Are Some Mornings When/
though perspective as a topic in manga format has always been a.... something stretched/pushed/pulled... imo. And how the artists interprets it is something incorporated into their /style/
Oh Phillip. Our resident um...part of the anatomy that shall not be named.
I lurv this pic of him. I do, I do. Love how you portrayed the sunlight coming through the window on him - him and his love of crossword puzzles. Something that stuck to him from first write to revision.
And quick...oh my Lord did you get this one done quick. First you were sketching...then Zip. Zoom. You was finished.
When is enough enough... What difference does it make when popular artist vent vent vent and support a site that tolerates deviant behaviour. HA! no wonder its all in a name.

Your Darkest Dreams is a monthly feature devoted to sharing dark photography works from DeviantArt. Often misunderstood as "morbid" or "depressing", Your Darkest Dreams seeks to show this kind of photography in a new way: by showcasing art that is thought provoking, but at the same time unabashedly displays the beauty in darkness.
I can't believe so many artists dedicate their efforts and time to create authentic works of art for us to USE freely! In the world of 3D stocks [ most of it unknown to the photomanipulators ] you can find truly inspiring fantasy and surreal elements that could never be captured by a regular camera. And the best part is that most of them come in a transparent background, so we can simply click and drag onto our work. How fun, fast and easy is that?
A former volunteer with the Artist Relations team, `kuschelirmel has always been a wonderful role model within the community.
With a vibrant and eclectic gallery that would make anyone proud, her dedication to providing informative and easy to follow tutorials, journal CSS, and inspirational stock is clearly long overdue for recognition.
