In celebration of this piece being in an art exhibition, I am reposting it. I also wanted to share it with those close friends here on DA who cannot be at the exhibition.
Medium: Watercolor, Sumi Ink, Gousche.
For those of you who live in the Milwaukee area, the exhibition runs May 5th - May 19th. And is located in the INOVA 3 Gallery at UW-Milwaukee.
For anyone not familiar with this piece already, this was a colaborative piece I did with a fellow DA friend and poet. She wrote the poem that is written in the back ground of the piece. The copy I post here on DA does not allow for the poem to be read; so I have included it here. Please check out other amazing poetry written by MissDeets [link]
“Walking Past”
Poem by deviant MissDeets
and I'm
wearing my heart on my sleeve
dragging it behind me
past is my enemy
tripping over roots of trees
I planted - not thinking
then of now but
now then is it for my eyes
I'm coughing up the blood of the words
I've held in for years past what i can count
dancing round and round on impromptu holy ground
bet they never saw this coming
and now I'm walking

[i'll hear your confession] I FOUND THE BEST PIECE OF ME
[kneel down] ALONE, SHIVERING IN THE DARK
[place your face between my thighs] 3 CENTIMETERS TALL
[and talk to god] EATING ITS HEART
...but you will not feast on me today

Blown away, she was oh-so blown away - yeah that's me.
Having bumped back into you this summer after an almost two year quiet spell...this was one of the first things I saw of yer magnificent Nick.
It's been a total kick in the pants seeing the growth and change in your work. You never cease to amaze. I love the mediums you used and the poem in the background supplied by your friend is awesome. Nick's had an amazing journey and it's always a delight to see how he grows and changes in your eyes.
This is definitely one of my favorites of Mr. Rumours, yes indeed.
We want to know what love means to you!
Get your creative juices flowing and design a movie poster for "Paper Heart" that focuses on the theme "What Does Love Mean to Me?".
The butter legion- a socialist movement/mass colab project I started, to trigger artistic change and evolution in Da artists (mainly my watchers), to make them more active and dedicated on DA. Now 170 people strong and growing... A "dangerous cult"? a "new religion"? "artistic version of fight club" or "communist movement"? You decide!
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
